Even allowing for the feverish excitement created by the plan to link EADS and BAE Systems to create the biggest aerospace and defence business in the world, Richard Gilbert is following the manoeuvring with special interest.
Richard Gilbert, the managing director of the supplier of machine tools and related hardware–50-year-old BL Gilbert, counts BAE as one of his biggest customers.
It was expected that the new EADS-BAE group would employ 52000 staff in the UK, if it kept the two companies’ UK workforces.
