UK Coal Sees Increasing Losses
Friday, August 28, 2009 6:54After a loss in the first six months of 2009, the deep mining problems are seen at the largest coal producer in the UK.
According to UK Coal, it is said that there had been difficulties and delays in Kellingley in Yorkshire and Thoresby. It is a setback in the first half of 2009 under operating losses to £ 38.1 million, which is a figure significantly higher than the earlier figure of 24 million GBP.
Besides, a value loss in UK Coal’s property portfolio pushed the total deficit of the company to £81.5m, having stood at £9.9m in 2008. UK Coal produces 13% of all in the UK burned coal and the poor showing in Yorkshire burden of a strong performance in Daw Mill, Warwickshire, the fastest two million tons of production have not succeeded yet.
In spite of the economic conditions, UK Coal announced that its average sales price was slightly above the previous year. The production was flat at 3.7 million tons.
