According to leading experts, the economic downturn in the UK is showing signs of easing.
Organisation for Economic Development predicts that the situation in big exporting nations such as the US, Japan, Germany and Russia is worse than for the UK. OED’s index of leading indicators for UK showed only a small dip in February. In some countries like Italy and France, there are even signals suggesting a possible recovery on the way. Meanwhile, the Paris-based group’s index measures economic data suggests a trend of activity in the months ahead.
The housing market are showing signs of improvement, with the mortgage approvals starting to increase and interest rates fell.
Figures also suggest that though there is a slump in demand in overseas markets, UK’s exporters have cashed in on the fall in sterling’s international value, boosting sales last month by 2.5%. The surge helped slash £500million from the nation’s trade deficit.
