Depending on the view point at the time, research could be described as many things: a quest for knowledge and understanding, an interesting and useful experience, a qualification courses, or an essential process for commercial success, etc.
It is an art aided by skills of inquiry, experimental design, data collection, measurement and analysis, by interpretation and by presentation. It is a big subject to write a single volume about it in any depth.
There are 13 main types of research methods widely adopted in the modern days.
