Telecoms Face EU ‘War of Attrition’

The relationship between EU regulators and the largest telecoms groups in Europe was already strained. However, tension reached new levels as the top competition body admitted it is concerned that meetings between the five powerful operators–Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefónica and the UK-based wireless group Vodafone, could lead to collusion.
Industry insiders are worried that the “war of attrition” between both parties would undermine plans to roll out high-speed next-generation mobile and fixed-line networks across the region.
