Teachers Threaten Strike in War on Spending Cuts

It is said that a decent society should protect the young, the old and the poor. Teachers in the UK threatened to strike in order fight against the spending cuts.
The National Union of Teachers called for a joint campaign with the Trades Union Congress and other unions to oppose cuts to services, threats to pensions and pay freezes. It is said that in the time of economic recession, the need to protect education funding and public services should be obvious to all political parties.
A resolution called on members to reject plans outlined by all major parties for cuts in key services that will impact on the children. The move may be taken as one of the first shots in a battle between the unions and the winner of the next general election.
The NUT has already passed a resolution threatening industrial action over workloads, while the NASUWT teachers’ union backed a motion on Saturday to act over any changes to public sector pensions.
