Steady Sales of Smartphone Boost SoftBank

The Japanese telecoms company–SoftBank, which is in the midst of buying US operator–Sprint Nextel, has posted a small rise in the quarterly operating profit and kept guidance for the full-year intact, even as the company goes on investing heavily on upgrading network as well as attracting new customers at home.
According to SoftBank, it was announced that the company’s operating income for the period between July and September increased by 7% compared to the figure in 2011, due to the steady sales of smartphones and tablets.
