Social Network Sites Offering New Opportunities for Retailers
Thursday, April 30, 2009 20:22There are some bright people who are changing the way that retailers do business. Most of them are young and virtually all use Facebook, YouTube or LinkedIn. Many also use Twitter.
Prograssive brands are seeing social networking as a great opportunity to connect with their consumers like never before. when information about a brand comes to one from a friend rather than from a corporation, it gives the brand a completely different level of ccredibility. Starbucks and Nike are two of a growing number of brands that βtweetβ.
Many people are also making friends with brands on our social networks. Consumers all chat together, share comments about products or service and make comparisons. They are actively showing their loyalty to the brand. Itβs like wearing a virtual badge and beloning to a very large loyalty group.
There is no definitive answer as to whether these groups have a direct impact on sales, but at least, it gives the companies the chance to entertain a captive audience. So, it is adding something valuable. The role that social networking can play in retail can no longer be ignored.
