Shoppers Speak Out on Food Labelling
Thursday, May 21, 2009 17:29
According to the Food Standard Agency’s final report on the topic, the consumers would prefer a single front-of pack food labelling scheme that combines traffic light colours, guideline daily amounts and the words “high”, “medium” and “low”.
Its independent research, conducted by the British Market Research Bureau with the Food, Consumer Behaviour and Health Research Centre at the University of Surrey also found that shoppers who use FOP labels value them, particularly those with health concerns, like diabetes or people shopping for children.
The British Retail Consortium is urging the Government to hold back before rushing into any change of regime. The organization will publish its own research on the issue next month.
