The sole provider of the one-price-goes-anywhere service—Royal Mail Group sits at the centre of communications in the UK. As the communications markets extend electronically, it is no longer relevant to consider a uniquely postal market on its own. Recently, the group needs clarity on its funding to keep delivering.
The National Audit Office said Royal Mail’s plan to close almost 2500 post offices had largely been met, but some closures suffered poor communication. Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee—Edward Leigh said the plans were “bulldozed” through despite residents concerns.
