Rail Cut Backs Send Jarvis into Buffers

About 2000 jobs could be lost after railway maintenance contractor Jarvis called in administrators, following a steep fall in rail and plant wor. The York Group, once the biggest construction company in the UK, announced it had suffered considerable reductions in business during the economic recession.
It is said that the future of the company had been dependent on support from lenders and Network Rail. Following the negotiations with the compnay’s secured lenders, it has become clear sufficient support will not be extended to the company to enable it to continue trading as a going concern.
