Poor Data on Housebuilders Weakens Sentiment

Wall Street was a fraction firmer as an early advance on the back of deal activity and encouraging earings news from Halliburton was mostly erased by news that housebuilders were losing confidence.
By midday, the S&P 500 was up by 0.1% at 1066.21, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up by 0.2% to 10114.93 and the Nasdaq was 0.2% higher at 2184.29. Investors took stock of last wee’s hefty declines and were more optimistic ahead of this week’s earnings.
