There are a whole range of credit cards that have loyalty scheme. The provider of different reward on credit card include American Express, the Shell Mastercard, the Argos credit card, and Bank of England, etc.
Besides, several High Street retailers, such as Marks & Spencer’s, Sainsbury’s and Boots, offer loyalty cards that reward their customers with points which can be turned into vouchers to spend in stores. &More card (15.9%) and John Lewis’s Partnership card (16.9%) give you 1p for every £1 spent with their cards in their stores and £2 spent elsewhere.
Nowadays, the bank of Barclaycard is planning a rewards scheme to link 12m card holders of the bank with thousands of shops.
With this loyalty scheme, the card holders could earn instant discounts at the checkout without the bother of collecting points or vouchers. 89000 retailers are using the card payment service offered by Barclaycard. However, it has not been indicated yet how many of these will join in the scheme.
Critics of schemes arise, pointing to the huge numbers that are never redeemed, while the proposal of the bank means people could benefit instantly or save points to use in future.

No matter what one is looking to make with an online business, web hosting is necessary. Finding a reliable hosting service is one of the very first things one needs to do when starting an online business. There are plenty of alternatives in the field. Some web hosting services are free, while some others will charge you for some fee.
Free web hosting will give you almost everything that you need. If you don’t have much experience with website management and are not sure what kinds of complicated service you need, free hosting service is a wise option.
But if you are looking for something more customized, free hosting might not be good enough. Then you need to pay for better hosting service. However, there are still different options, including shared server service and dedicated server for one website. Usually, for many webmasters, Shared hosting are more preferable.

GM Bankruptcy Put More Jobs in Danger

Thursday, April 9, 2009 14:21

The world’s biggest car firm—General Motors is now on the brink of going bust. The company was in ‘earnest’ preparations to file for bankruptcy.
The news came as Jaguar Land Rover and Nissan in Sunderland celebrated a bailout of £720m by the European Investment Bank, and the Government is backing £500m of the cash. This move of GM puts 5000 Vauxhall jobs at risk in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and Luton as well as 60000 more supply jobs.
American bosses of GM want to split the ailing company in a ‘new’ company made up of the most successful parts, and an ‘old’ one of less-profitable units. The plan is taken as the most sensible configuration.
GM has already been handed £9.4bn in state aid in return for pledges that the compoany would reform its business.

Job Losses in RBS Just Started

Government ownership of the banks will never be easy.
However, the UK Financial Investments has a 70% stake and sacked 9000 people worldwide. Having barely escaped from the economic crisis, the UK government now faces the alarming prospect of a bank. It means that it is better for the government as the banks are managed at arm’s length.
For 4500 people in the UK, who will face the risk of dismissal of a further if all the decisions were being made by the Treasury when the living costs are soaring, it could never be happy news.
The real worry is that this is just the start of a funeral pyre of bank jobs.
After the bank recorded a loss of £7.9bn and writing off £16.2bn of goodwill, it is necessary though brutal it may seem.
It is clear that Stephen Hester, RBS’s chief executive, is determined to restore profitability at RBS as soon as possible.

I usually read a blog for at least two month or three carefully before deciding to add it as part of my regular feed reader (RSS) line-up. Time is money and I like to get a feel for the blog before I make the commitment to add a blog to the one I check everyday. But in rare cases I would like to make exceptions. The Investing blog is one of those exceptions.

Barely over 2 years old this blog has already impressed me with not only the quality of their writing but the well researched rich investing information such as Stocks, Forex, Hedge funds, futures and commodities.

Further more, almost daily market news help out our general investing trend. It really fresh my mind when every post come out, gives me not only an overview of the investing market, but also detail in deeply explain the principal. Covering such topics as commodities, Forex, stock analysis, and the economy the Investing blog provides just the type of analysis investors and traders should be reading and learning from. A fine example of how Investing Blog can help the investor or trader is found in this very useful post.

Overall, I recommend the Investing Blog as one that should be read regularly.

Water Giants to Hit Households with Greater Bills

Wednesday, April 8, 2009 21:46
Posted in category News

In spite of the great pressures on households’ finances, utilities have proposed average rises of £23 over the coming five years.
The biggest hike of £48 was proposed by Thames Water, while Southern Water, Bristol Water and Sutton & East Surrey are to rises of between £42 and £44 from 2009-10 to 2014-15. This proposal of sustained, above-inflation rises in prices has sparked a major battle between the firms and consumer groups.
After demanding swingeing hikes in customer bills, Water companies were accused of being ‘robber barons’. They are stepping into ‘dangerous’ territory given soaring unemployment and faltering household incomes
However, the companies defended the proposed charges via arguing that they are necessary to improve drinking water, maintain pipes as well as sewers and combat leakage. But some companies will face further controversy as they seek to combine hikes in bills with lower-than- expected investment plans.
