If you love movies and television program, you might be interested in turning this lifelong passion into a quick money-earner via taking on the role of an extra.
These non-speaking parts are well paid and interesting. What’s more, you may discover hidden acting talents you never thought you had when practicing a brooding presence or a coy glance.
You don’t need any qualifications or previous experience and there is no upper or lower age limit. Working as an extra means you will be guaranteed a minimum wage for the work you do by the unions Equity and Bectu.
If you fancy brushing shoulders with celebrities, adding to the ambience of a movie or TV drama and exploring your own acting talents, you have nothing to lose then. The tricky part comes when trying to choose an extras agency with which to register to ensure you get the pick of the jobs.
You need to choose the agencies carefully, as this is where casting directors approach for the extras they need. You could register online and create a profile with most agencies today. And the costs they charge would vary.

Currently, many mobile phone companies are offering unlimited data downloads, while some cite a fair usage policy to cap the amount of the customers’ downloading effectively. Customers are often caught out when exceeding this policy.
The mobile companies are being pushed to act quickly in order to prevent the consumers getting huge bills for downloading and streaming music, films as well as games to their mobile devices. It is urged that the communication service operators should be more clear about the words they use in their ads and keep their customers well informed of what they actually mean.

Northern Rock Sale Leaves Taxpayer with £400m Bill

PrintGeorge Osborne was criticised for locking the taxpayer into a loss of at least £400m on Northern Rock after agreeing the sale of the bank to Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin empire for £750m. It is said that Osborne had lost taxpayers hundreds of millions via pushing for a quick sale as well as undermining hopes of a resurgence in the mutual banking sector by denying customers a stake in the business.
According to Osborne, it is argued that the sale of the Newcastle-based lender will raise £747m for the Treasury. This amount could rise to £1bn if certain conditions are met. Last year, it was highly expected that the sale would generate £2bn for the taxpayer. However, the drop in property prices has forced down the bank’s asset value to £1.2bn.

HMRC has sent a 12-person taskforce to make unannounced inspections of businesses where interns are working as employers rather than just shadowing staff. The special 12-person “dynamic response” unit will have the authority to question managers and sift through accounts until the members are satisfied that no abuse is going on.

crab bucket SyndromeCrab bucket usually has no top lid at all. If there was only one crab in the bucket, it would certainly escape. However, when there is more than one crab in the bucket, if one tries to crawl out, the other crabs would pull it back down so that it would share the same fate as the rest of them.
In the business world, similar phenomenon exists, reflecting negativity and low level of business ethics among different organizations. It is called as the Crab Bucket Syndrome, or Crab Syndrome. It happens when the members within an organization are short-sighted and only focus on their own benefits. If one person within the organization tries to improve himself, others will attempt to drag him back down to the same level with them.
So, if you are looking to achieve success in your life, you will need to ignore the other “crabs”.

The Winner’s Curse

winner's curseThe winner’s curse refers to a phenomenon akin to a Pyrrhic victory that occurs in common value auctions with incomplete information. In such an auction, the winner will tend to make an overpayment for the auctioned asset.
They might be paying an amount of money that exceed the value of the asset or obtain a worse than expected net gain due to wrong anticipation of the asset value.
According to the revenue equivalence theorem, winner’s curse during biddings should never occur.
