Positioning Yourself in the Target Market

Position of a product or a brand is how potential buyers see the product or the brand. Positioning is the marketing process by which marketers try to create an image or identity in the minds of their target market for its product, brand, or organization.
The marketing concept was first popularized by Al Ries and Jack Trout in Positioning—a Battle for Your Mind. Originally, the work of positioning was consumer marketing oriented, and was not as much focused on the question relativity to competitive products as it was focused on cutting through the ambient “noise” and establishing a moment of real contact with the intended recipient. It is probably one of the most important aspects of branding. It’s a unique strategy that will help differentiate a product or service from the other competitors in the field. It can be very powerful marketing methods if the strategy is well implemented.
Generally, the process of positioning involves:
1. Defining the market
2. Identifying the attributes
3. Collecting information from customer samples of about their perceptions of the product on the relevant attributes
4. Determine each product’s share of mind
5. Determine each product’s current location in the product space
6. Determine the target market’s preferred combination of attributes
7. Examine the fit between the position of your product and the position of the ideal vector
8. Position.
Frankly speaking, there is much to learn from every angle and nuance. Compliances and training can offer up positioning opportunities.
However, the real gems are far beyond the obvious. To better recognize the opportunities in the field, it’s necessary to look all around the edges of the product or service. And the growth of high-tech marketing may help further develop this marketing approach.

American International Group (AIG), a major American insurance corporation based at the American International Building in New York City, is one of the world’s biggest insurers. According to the Forbes Global 2000 list in 2008, the group is the 18th-largest company in the world now.
Recently, as the America’s central bank agreed on assigning a two-year rescue loan of $85 billion to the group, it has been saved from the brink of collapse after the US Federal Reserve. AIG will pay a high rate of interest for it. Meanwhile, the deal gives the US Government a 79.9% stake in the insurer, and the government will also be given the right to stop payments of dividends to shareholders. The central bank hopes that the will halt plummeting financial markets, which are already reeling from the collapse of Lehman Brothers and sale of Merrill Lynch at the weekend. However, though the central bank moves to steady the global financial system with the unprecedented bailout, it fails to calm Asia markets.

HBOS Plc

Posted in category Banking and Finance, News

Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS plc) is a banking and insurance group in the United Kingdom. It was formed by the merger of the Halifax plc and the Governor and Company of the Bank of Scotland.
Now, the group is a public limited company listed on the London Stock Exchange. It is the holding company for Bank of Scotland plc, which operates the Bank of Scotland and Halifax brands; HBOS Australia, owner of BankWest; as well as HBOS Insurance & Investment Group Limited. The corporate headquarters of the group are in Edinburgh, while the operational headquarters are based in Halifax.
Funding more mortgages than its rivals by borrowing money rather than from savers’ deposits, HBOS is a big British bank exposed most to the housing market. As a result, it got more hurt in the recent credit crunch. As all banks are based on confidence, HBOS is getting into great trouble. Due to the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the fall of bank’s share price by 50% in two days, panicked investors are busy dumping their stock now. Lloyds TSB is in talks to buy shares of HBOS. It’s not surprising that HBOS’s 15 million depositors are now quite worried about their savings.
But it is inconceivable that the Government would allow ordinary savers to be left out of pocket in the event of a problem at any big British bank. So the savers of HBOS should sleep easy, while the shareholders should expect the bumpy ride to continue.

Logic marketing is far from enough.A powerful message can help create awareness in the public mass.

Appropriate use of medium mix is also critic to stir desired emotions of the audience and make the business stick out from the crowd. Crude Sulphur Supply

Monday, September 15, 2008 18:33
Posted in category Industry Review

Crude sulphur, which is also referred to as “native sulphur”, is one of the most naturally plentifully available elements in the world. Usually, it is found native in regions of volcanic activity. It is always impure, always mixed with gypsum, aragonite, clay, or in combination with various kinds of metals like sulphides. Historically, it has been both revered and vilified as ‘brimstone’ by ancient peoples who believed that the terrible stone with the unique foul smell was from the underworld.
Crude sulphur has been mined, refined and used by human beings for centuries. Nowadays, many industries are still heavily depending on the use of sulphur. It is playing a very critic role in the manufacturing processes of many industries. With the development of modern technology, the methods for extracting sulphur have changed greatly over time. The manufacturing and supplying of sulphur is becoming one of the most important raw materials businesses in the world.
