Ofcom Rules BSkyB ‘Fit and Proper’
Friday, September 21, 2012 9:59The UK’s media watchdog–Ofcom has been heavily criticizing James Murdoch for his conduct at the broadcasting regulator–News International. However, News International has ruled that the actions of Mr Murdoch surrounding the phone-hacking scandal did not warrant stripping BSkyB of its broadcast license.
Ofcom found that the conduct of Mr Murdoch in relation to events at News Group Newspapers repeatedly fell behind the expectation of him as a chief executive officer and chairman. But it is also added that Ofcom is thinking about that the evidence available to date does not provide a reasonable base for James Murdoch to deliberately engaged in any wrongdoing.
