Scotland’s depressed house-building sector has been dealt a fresh blow with news that Edinburgh-based Highmore Homes has collapsed into administration.
Highmore, the former house-building arm of Kenmore Property Group, has fallen victim to the industry slump after suffering a slide in sales and the colapse of a number of its joint venture partner. The company had been hoping to achieve sales of 100 million pound this year. However, recently, a total of 33 workers out of 43 employed at the comopany’s Highmore Residential divisions have been axed, including 19 people north of the Borderl.
Industry leaders have called for drastic government action to prop up the sector.
