proofreading

There is nothing worse than a sentence with bad grammar and spelling. It makes the writer look foolish, lazy and badly educated. Although computers now provide people with spell check, it is not enough to thoroughly check a book, newspaper, magazine, flyer, brochure or instruction manual before it goes to press or a website before it goes live.
Proofreading involves checking a manuscript or page proof for typing, grammar and spelling errors by the author. Some editors and publishers also ask their proofreaders to spot factual mistakes in the editorial and any potentially libelous statements. If you are someone with literature and editing experience, such as a journalist, editor, teacher or secretary, this might be an ideal freelance job for you to take.
The best way to get work is to approach publishers directly. Or you could also advertise at the local Job Centre.
