UK unemployment has risen more slowly than expected during the recession. However, it is expected to remain high for some time.
Currently, 28.86 million people are employed in the UK. The number of unemployed people in the UK reached 2.45 million, while 687000 of them have been unemployed for more than a year and 1.59 million of them are claiming jobless benefits. 715000 unemployed people are between the age of 18-24 years old. Jobless.
