People act on the basis of the information they have received. The information comes from the environment and reaches the individual through his/her sensations.
However, the amount of information tends to be overwhelming and baffling in the modern society unless attention was made to deal with the relevant and necessary part of it, discarding the rest. Before a business make a choice of what kind of marketing communication methods to take, it’s important to distinguish the characteristic of different information.
Generally speaking, there are two kinds of information.
First of all, the ‘Deliberate’ information refers to certain sensations that can only be recognized if they are deliberately searched for by people.
The second type of ‘Involuntary’ information refers to the relevant sensations that attract the attention from a person attempting to concentrate on other things, by the subject matter of the information, or the form in which it is presented.
If a business is looking forwards to conveying ‘Deliberate’ information, it’s very important for them to pay special attention to the missing link marketing. The ‘Involuntary’ information is desirable due to its effectiveness and efficiency in influencing people, but it needs to be well designed and tailored to meet people’s taste.
