Increasing Incorrect Energy Bill
Saturday, April 18, 2009 5:57
According to a latest research of energy bills, it has been revealed that about 9 million households, which takes up to a third of the households, have been billed incorrectly by their power companies in the past two years. The report said that, in the past year, instances of ‘bad billing’ by energy suppliers have increased greatly.
Energy suppliers have ranked top for inaccuracy nowadays. The energy companies are making much more mistakes than banks, councils, water companies and HM Revenue & Customs for the past three years.
The consumer survey found that the energy companies are the worst culprits for getting bills wrong. It is found that millions of customers had unexpectedly owed money to their energy supplier as a result of a discrepancy between an estimated bill and the actual meter reading.
