Iceland Boss Slams Code of Conduct

Chief of the food chain Iceland—Malcolm Walker, has been proposed for the call of the new supermarket code of conduct a “waste of time”, which came into being on Feb 4th 2010. The code is managed by the Office of Fair Trading in order to protect small providers from the supermarket giants.
Mr. Walker was reported to saying that he would ‘do the bare minimum’ with the revised Code. He also called the practice of “large retailers bullying small suppliers, and large suppliers bullying smaller retailers” as “a fact of life.”
The Forum of Private Business, criticize Mr. Walker’s comments as “extremely disappointing and reflect the common attitude supermarkets have over their suppliers.”
