How to Handle Working with Friends

It is not an easy job to handle working with friends. The stress of working may change your relationship with your friend. Here are some tips on how to avoid straining a relationship when working with your friends.
1. Sometimes, people are one person at work and another at home, so make sure your fiend or colleague understands the barriers. Sit down with him/her and discuss the rules for keeping your friendly and professional lives separate.
2. Resist the temptation to gossip over the water cooler and distract each other. Your career is equally important as your friendlyship, so don’t let one influence the other.
3. If you are her boss or are promoted, never give her special treatment over the rest of the team. You will end up making life more difficult for her.
4. It is difficult if a friend gets promoted over you, but try to learn from her success and appreciate the good communication and vibe that comes with getting on with someone more senior than you.
5. If you work in a separate department from a friend, you may know certain things about the company that you bosses might not want you to pass on. Remember they are not your secrets to share.
