Google Takes on Microsoft with Browser
Thursday, September 4, 2008 15:50
The fight between Microsoft, Yahoo and Google for enlarging their share in the browser market has been on for several years now. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is still dominating the browser market with a 74% share.
After a long-anticipated move aimed at countering Microsoft and Firefox, Google has just released its own free web browser named “Google Chrome” in another expansion by the search giant into the building blocks of the internet. The new “Chrome” was said to feature a new format for tabs, the ability to view web pages as thumbnails and better features on the address bar. At the same time, after making an unsuccessful attempt to buy Yahoo Inc., Microsoft has been trying to fight back with Google via investing billions to develop its own search engine.
Which company will finally get grip on the most people interact with personal computers? Let’s wait to see.
