Google Helps HTC in Patent Battle
Friday, September 9, 2011 7:54The smartphone maker in Taiwan–HTC, is filing countersuits against Apple on intellectual property infringement in its Android phones. The Asian smartphone makers have been supporting HTC to fight against the iPhone maker via transferring patents to company. Now, the US internet search group–Google has stepped into the widening legal battle.
Google allows makers to use its Android mobile phone operating system for free. Now it had transferred 9 patents to HTC. This move shows how active Google is becoming in throwing its weight behind other groups using Android. Currently, it remain unclear whether or not Google would charge the makers of smartphones for such protection in the future.
