Microsoft Software Empire The war between Google and Microsoft to shape the future of personal computing has geared up after Google unveiled an internet-centric laptop that it said would provide a cheaper alternative to the traditional PC.
According to executives at the search company, it is said companies like American Airlines and Kraft had been lining up to try out the new machine in the hope of saving large amounts on their PC costs. It is said that Acer and Samsung would start selling consumer versions of the notebook computers running the new operating system, which is known as Chrome OS, by the middle of next year.
However, Google also conceded that it had fallen six months behind in completing the software as it tried to iron out technical problems, and analysts indicated the company was in for a long battle as it attempted to launch a direct attack on the main stronghold of Microsoft’s software empire.
