Further Information For the XL Customers

The collapse of XL Leisure Group has left around 67,000 holidaymakers stranded abroad. Meanwhile, it means about 200,000 advance bookings of holiday will have to be cancelled.
This morning hundreds of passengers arrived at Gatwick airport to discover they would not be going on holiday any more. All XL Airways flights from the UK are now cancelled and customers should not go to the airport.
To deal with the problem, the ATOL financial protection scheme is being implemented by the CAA now to arrange for people currently with XL Leisure Group tour operators to complete their holidays and fly home.
If you booked your holidays and flights from an XL Leisure Group tour operator, the CAA will make arrangements for your flight home. If you only booked with XL Leisure Group, the CAA will make sure that you can still get a flight home. However, if you booked directly with XL Airways, you won’t be protected by ATOL. Most customers of XL Leisure Group tour operators with advanced bookings, who have not yet traveled, are protected by ATOL and will be able to claim a refund under the ATOL scheme. However, the ones who have booked directly with the airline are not ATOL scheme protected and won’t be able to get their money back from CAA.
Besides, help-lines have been set up for passengers. Customers stranded abroad should call 44 2891 856 547. Customers worried about future bookings should call 0870 5900927.
