According to UK’s biggest transport company–FirstGroup, it was said that the group had witnessed the very first signs of economic recovery in its UK bus business sector. However, the multinational transport group also warned that there is still considerable work to be done to turn round the under-performing business sector, as FirstGroup looks to take over the West Coast main line rail franchise before the end of 2012.
According to FirstGroup, which also operates bus services in the US, it was said that the overall trading in the half year to September 30 was in accordance with the expectations and reiterated the commitment of the group to grow its dividend by 7% this year, in spite of the tough economic environment.
