Due to the consumer downturn these days, many grocery stores are hit hard in their sales. They are launching big sales at discount price to stimulate the purchase of customers to combat the economic recession. Tesco is no exception. However, this strategy is not working all the time.
As the discount range greatly hold back the sales rise of various retailing business, analysts suggested that the coming Christmas could be tough going for Britain’s biggest retailers. Though according to analysts, Tesco remained best-placed among the supermarkets to cope with the recession in the coming 2009, it has just been unveiled by Tesco that the company just got its weakest UK sales growth since the early 1990s. And the company is said to be losing market share to its rivals such as Asda and Morrisons in main UK market due to the launch of its discount range.
