Clapham Clears Its Way to Sell Tootsies

The restaurant group—Clapham House, has been urged to narrow its brand focus. The company has bitten more than it chew with its Tootsies chain of 23 Burger upscale bars.
The company has the ground for a possible sale by wiping £ 24m value of the Brasseries broke the group on a full year loss. Clapham, which is also the name behind Gourmet Burger Kitchen and The Real Greek, has been hit hard by the consumer as a result. Diners stayed at home to the cash and the Tootsies outlets, which are mainly in busy shopping streets, have borne the brunt of the downturn in the retail sector.
At Clapham, a series of actions used to attract customers dented profits. The company swung into the red with a £ 26m loss of 1.3 million pounds profit before. The shares fell 4p to 68p, but analysts say the group remains cash generative.
