Over the last few months, Chinese IT companies including Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent have been moving into an area dominated by the US group’s Android platform. This has brought questions over what could mean for Google’s big success in China.
Google’s Android operating system has achieve great success in mainland China. According to a senior industry executive, it is revealed that such result is not due to the threat from a host of mobile operating systems being unleashed in the country as they will be “niche” products.
However, according to chief financial officer of MediaTek–David Ku, it is indicated that the phones based on these new operating systems won’t have wider appeal as they are primarily designed to push the mobile users towards using the services of one company exclusively.
