There are a lot of regulation for foreign websites in the mainland of China. Hundreds of thousand foreign websites have been banned by search engine such as Baidu and cannot be accessed from mainland China.
According to a recent notice posted on the Culture Ministry Web site, it was announced that China has banned Web sites from advertising or linking to games that glamorize violence, another step in China’s censorship campaign in order to ensure social stability ahead of the 60th anniversary of communist rule on Oct. 1.
This news will make it even harder for many web-based gaming companies or proxy-content-related sites to penertrate China’s market.

I don’t think it will be the best time for web-based business to penertrate the Chinese market. If you are really looking to develop your business in the mainland. check detail information about the new regulation and figure out whether the content on your websites are allowed to be checked in China and whether they’ll be banned from accessing in the mainland. Or you’ll be waste your time and money investing in developing SEO in this market.
