Challenges for China
Saturday, September 6, 2008 18:10
At the end of this year, China will reach another milestone in its developing history. It will be 30th year since Deng Xiaoping set China on the “reform and opening up” course and it is taken as far more important than the Beijing Olympics.
China’s economy has greatly expanded by ten times over this span of thirty-year, and it is going to get tougher. However, after a decade of double-digit growth, the growth pace of the nation’s economy is thought to be slowing down recently and the growth rate is expected to decrease from 11.8% in the past 2 years to an expected 9.8 per cent for 2008 and 8 to 9 per cent in 2009.
In the modern days, the nation needs to change its economic development strategy from cheap energy and labor as well as low attention to the environment, up to the new developing model of value-added curve. More innovation and a much freer market system are required.
