Facebook Launches App Store before IPO

The social networking site–Facebook has launched a new app store that will soon allow the 900 million users of the site to transact content upfront, creating a potential new revenue stream as Facebook looks to go public in the coming week.
The new “App Center” of Facebook will provide its users with an improved storefront for browsing through the wide array of apps on its platform, just as Apple’s App Store and Google Play on its Android smartphone system do.
Although a lot of Facebook apps allow the users of the site to buy upgrades and extras once they have installed the app, Facebook does not currently allow content owners to charge for apps upfront. It takes a 30% cut of all transactions using the Facebook Credits virtual currency, which is mandatory for games developers on Facebook’s platform.

The concept of virtual offices is by no means new and it originated in the late eighties early nineties as a way for companies to run meetings and work to avoid commuting and high overheads. However, virtual offices have become incredibly popular in the last few years and are now operating on levels far beyond their origins. One of the key aspects of their growth is undoubtedly the financial costs of running brick and mortar buildings and the savings that can be made in staffing costs.

Renewed Probe into Apple 4G Marketing

The UK’s advertising regulator– Advertising Standards Authority, is currently stepping up an investigation into Apple’s marketing of the new iPad after announcing that the technology company had failed to fully comply with the requests to amend claims concerning its wireless capabilities.
In April, after receiving dozens of complaints concerning the iPad’s advertised capability to connect to 4G mobile networks, which are not yet generally available in the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority started informal talks with Apple over the issue.
According to ASA, it is said that Apple was co-operative and agreed to remove the offending claims from the specified parts of its UK website and edited them out of videos. It is believed that the problem had been resolved.
