Cadbury Bid May See More UK Brands Go Abroad

In the wake of Kraft’s bid for Cadbury, experts argued that increasing number of UK companies are likely to fall prey to foreign bidders seeking to cash in on their post- colonial inheritance.
According to Nirmalya Kumar of London Business School, it is said that brands ranging from Dairy Milk to St Michael have huge appeal in former colonies that are now crucial growth markets. For the very reason Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover and Yardley soap have already been acquired.
Though British bosses and investors often aren’t aware of the potential of these brands, the foreign companies acutely are.
