Fresh concerns surfaced over the health of the building societies sector when Fitch became the second credit rating agency to downgrade several big players.
Clelsea, Newcastle, Principality, West Bromwich and Yorkshire building societies have all had their ratings revised downward. It is also revealed that the Fitch Ratings has also put Skipton Building Society’s rating on negative watch, indicating that it could be next in line for a downgrade.
