Benefits of Getting Multiple Jobs
Monday, September 21, 2009 12:13Taking on two or three extra jobs sounds like the very last thing to do when one need to redress his work-life balance. However, a new generation of 30- and 40-somethings is discovering that maintaining a ‘portfolio’ of different careers can be the solution to balancing work and home life. This approach can pay off in terms of time, money and quality of life.
Here’s how it works. Scaling back the time you spend on your ‘main’ career gives you freedom to develop other strings to your bow. You decide when, how and on what you work. Spreading your well-honed skills across different part-time roles brings increased security. There are no messy office politics. As you are the boss of your work around your lifestyle, you could take time out when you need it. On those terms, a compilation career suddenly sounds pretty appealing.
