1200 Jobs on the Line at AstraZeneca Drugs Lab

According to the second biggest employer in Loughborough after the university—AstraZeneca, its drugs research center near Loughbourough in Leicestershir, is to close with the loss of up to 1200 jobs as part of it 8000 worldwide job cuts announced in Feburary.
The site will shut next year. The employees in the research center are offered the chance to transfer to other areas. Meanwhile, a smaller facility in Cambridge will also close. The company said that the pharmaceutical development work at the Avlon site near Bristol would also end with some roles moving to Cheshire.
